Installing costs nothing and the conversation is never counted. What the free plan does ration is how many new people you meet in a day, and a couple of smaller things behind that. All of them are below, in order, at the point where you would run into them.
You swipe through characters until one interests you. Each has a written background, a nationality, a job and a way of talking, so the choice is a real one rather than a row of pictures.
25 new characters a day on the free plan. That is the only thing the free plan rations at this step, and it resets the next day.
The conversation runs in the app. She answers in character, and the exchange keeps going for as long as you want it to.
Your messages are not counted. There is no daily message budget on the free plan. What the free plan does limit is how much she remembers about you between conversations — extra memory costs hearts.
Hearts are the currency inside the app, and you are given them for showing up. They are what buys the things further down this page.
The daily reward is 1 to 3 hearts, and day 7 of a streak pays 10. Watching an ad gives 1 to 3 hearts. None of that costs money.
A subscription raises the daily caps — the top plan removes them entirely — and gives a discount on hearts. It does not unlock the conversation, because the conversation was never locked.
